What is ADPAN?
The Anti -Death Penalty Asia Network (ADPAN) is a cross-regional voice committed to working for the abolition of the death penalty across Asia and the Pacific.
ADPAN was founded in Hong Kong following a Consultative Meeting organized by Amnesty International in 2006. It answered a call from local abolitionists to organise regionally and was launched throughout the region on World Day Against the Death Penalty, 10 October 2006.
Who are its members?
ADPAN is a growing active network with members in 24 countries not linked to any political party or religion and is independent of all governments.
It is made up of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society groups, lawyers and individual members. Our members come from:

What do we do ?
Those wishing to become membes of ADPAN need to agree to the criteria below:
- Commitment to campaign for an end to the death penalty in the Asia Pacific region.
- Join in key actions and lobbying around the annual World Days against the Death Penalty 10 October, Cities for Life 30 November and reactive and pro-active campaigning
- Place wherever possible, ADPAN news releases and ADPAN statements on membership websites.
- Share information and translations of relevant death penalty materials amongst the network
- Provide regular feedback on ADPAN membership activities.
- Work towards or set up independent national coalitions against the death penalty in own countries
- Contribute to national and regional strategies in support of abolition
- The name of the Anti-Death Penalty Asia Network (ADPAN) can never be used in any news releases, statements, organization of public meetings or any other public activity without prior consent from the ADPAN coordinator.
